The Norwalk boys golf team will try to qualify for the state tournament today as they compete in the district meet at Veenker Golf Course in Ames. Among the favorites to make it is junior Ryan Jermier, who says he’s been preparing for this moment since last fall’s disappointment of coming up short.

“Last year, it was at Willow Creek, my home course. It was a combination of things, the weather wasn’t great. I know I could’ve shot better, but I kind of let that weather get to me and the pressure get to me. But over this past summer, I figured out how to mentally deal with the pressure, and I figured out how to keep building upon my mental game and my actual golf game. I have very strong feelings going into this year’s district.”

Action begins at 10:00 a.m. in Ames.

The Warrior volleyball team is also in action for the first time in a week, playing host to Dallas Center-Grimes in a conference match. Norwalk looks to stay above .500 in conference play, entering 3-2. The Mustangs look to gain some ground, as they’re 1-3 in conference play. First serve is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. inside the Norwalk High School gymnasium.
