Indianola Boys Golf Falls Just Short at Districts

The Indianola boys golf team placed fifth at the district meet at Veenker Golf Course in Ames Tuesday, just 10 shots shy of a team qualification to the state meet, while individual golfers Jackson Overton and Preston Bily were each just one shot away from qualifying as individuals.

The Indians shot a 322 team score, with Overton and Bily each shooting a 78 on the day. In Class 4A golf, the top three teams from each district site as well as the top two overall individual players (ties included) among non-qualifying teams advance to the state meet. The individual state qualifiers from the site shot a 71, and two shot a 77 to advance. The Indians season comes to a close, and they will graduate three seniors. Find full results of the meet below.

Indianola Volleyball Sweeps Newton on Senior Night

The Indians volleyball squad swept Newton on senior night Tuesday, honoring the senior class of four. The Indians dominated the Cardinals winning set one 25-16, the second set 25-15, and powered through a Newton rally in the third to win 25-20. Senior Lauren Blake tells KNIA Sports it was an emotional evening to start, but the Indians used it as fuel to help their gameplay.

“It was kind of sad to begin honestly, all of our coaches were crying during the senior introductions. So we were just like, now we have to go out and give it our all because we only get one senior night. We were excited and we just said to leave it all out there.”

The Indians are now 18-11 overall, and 6-1 in Little Hawkeye Conference play, and host a tournament at the Blake Fieldhouse this Saturday.
