The Indianola Public Works Department is currently working on the completion of several of their summer and warm weather projects, including the E Iowa Paving Project to open the industrial area of the city, and the Valley Place Reconstruction Project near TruBank and Taco Bell. Public Works Director Akhilesh “AP” Pal tells KNIA News several projects are currently in the planning phases, including the paving of Boston Ave which will utilize American Rescue Plan funds, Hillcrest Ave, and South K St.

“They are being designed and planned for the next fiscal year. The start of the project will be dictated by construction easement requirements, DOT approval, some of the projects may have easement acquisitions and the timeline will all be dictated by those requirements but they are in the planning stages now.”

AP also said the Square Reconstruction Project is on schedule, and is expected to finish Phase 1 and have the areas of the square open for traffic in mid-November.
