For the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic, Knoxville students will return to Washington, D.C. in November. Superintendent Cassi Pearson says two groups will be making the trip at the same time.

“The first group was supposed to be going about two weeks after COVID hit, and that of course, got put to a very quick halt. Those kids are now sophomores, and they should’ve gone during their 8th grade year. In just a few weeks, at the beginning of November, our sophomores will be headed out for their trip, as well as our freshman group. Both of those were delayed, but we finally got them scheduled. They’ll both be heading out at the same time, but we’ll be treating it as two different tours. Instead of putting 80-90 kids together, we’re splitting them into 44 and 41.”

The tours will run November 4th through 7th. Students will tour numerous landmarks and museums, and will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. View details of the trip here.
