The Tulip City volleyball teams competed in the Little Hawkeye Conference tournament at Grinnell Thursday, as Pella placed 2nd with a 3-1 evening and the Eagles ended up 5th at 2-2.

The No. 10 in 4A Dutch found themselves in a 2020 title game rematch with No. 6 Oskaloosa, but the Indians were able to flip the script and take the tournament crown this time in three sets (22-25, 25-19, 7-15). In pool play, Pella defeated No. 13 Indianola 2-1 (22-24, 21-15, 15-13), Pella Christian 2-1 (21-11, 21-23, 15-12), and Grinnell 2-0 (21-11, 21-8). Bailey Van Voorst eclipsed 1,000 career kills during the tournament.

Pella Christian competed in arguably what became their strongest night of the season thus far, with their only losses to Class 4A ranked teams Pella 2-1 and Indianola 2-1 (19-21, 21-18, 8-15) in pool play, which also included a 2-0 win over Grinnell (21-15, 21-17). The Eagles knocked off Norwalk 2-1 in the finals to earn a top 5 finish (25-20, 21-25, 15-12). Sarah Gritters tallied 47 kills on the evening and Chloe Huisman racked up 86 assists.

Pella could very well see Indianola again as they await the winner between those Indians and Knoxville in the Class 4A volleyball regional semifinals next Thursday at home, while the Eagles open the 2A regionals vs. East Marshall Monday evening on Eagle Lane.
