The Indianola girls earned a 3rd place finish at the district qualifiers at Pickard Park in Indianola Wednesday afternoon, while the Norwalk boys placed 2nd as both teams are sending the full squads to Fort Dodge next week for the state meet.

The Indians girls got top finishes from Jordyn Brown in 12th, Bree Tenges in 11th, and Emily Naughton in 7th leading their way to a top three finish, and Emily Naughton said the Indians have battled injuries all season long, and they put it all together on Wednesday.

“I was definitely happy with how I ran today, having it be Pickard and our home course gave us such a strong advantage. We’ve been practicing here all week, and we just came out strong and it was a good day.”

Curtis Johnson qualified as an individual for the Indianola boys for the third straight year, while Logan Hoger earned his second trip to the state meet after placing 10th and 8th respectively.

The Norwalk boys dominated the top 15, getting a 15th place finish from Noah Buhrow, Will Chase placed 11th, Jack Brown placed 7th, and Donovan Card earned a 6th place spot. Chase said the Warriors had a good idea of how they wanted to compete going in, and they did what they needed to do.

“We were really excited coming into this race, we knew that there would be some great competition. I think we are happy with how we got out and how we were able to execute, and we are just excited now to race at state.”

Breelie Mauro qualified as an individual with her 10th place finish. The class 3A and 4A state meet will be on Friday, October 29th at 10:30am at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge.
