melcher-dallas-7

Young, inexperienced, and green are words that Kelsey Goff is using to describe her third edition of the Melcher-Dallas Girls Basketball Squad. The Saints graduated eight seniors from an 8-11 season last year that was met with severe COVID-19 problems during the season and a gymnasium that became unusable. Goff tells KNIA Sports, a lot of freshmen and sophomores will dominate the roster and she adds the coaching approach will be different as well.

Goff : “Definitely working on the sophomores and fine tuning their skills. If you’re a post player here’s what I want you to work on, if you’re a guard, you need to work on this, so they can be ready for games.”

Goff will rely a lot on junior Kasyn Reed to be a leader and score. She says her team will have to hold the score down to give themselves a chance to win knowing they will not be able to push the tempo as much this season. The Saints will also be homeless this season as well as the high school gym is still unusable. The Saints will play their home games at Southeast Warren High School. Melcher-Dallas will get its season underway next Tuesday at Wayne.
