Like the boys, the Twin Cedars Girls Basketball program has a new coach. Zack Dunkin is not a stranger to the Sabers as he is also the softball coach and will encounter several of his softball players that also play basketball. Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it was getting late in the hiring process and the Sabers still had not found a coach, so he decided to throw his hat into the ring.

Dunkin: “Just decided it was worth a shot and took a crack at taking the basketball job. I also wanted to make sure the girls, who are a good group of kids, had a coach that would work with them and help improve their games, so I decided to take a shot.”

Dunkin adds basketball is something he has always been interested in coaching. The Sabers will return several players from last season’s team that posted an 11-and-11 record and went seven-and-three in the Bluegrass Conference. Twin Cedars tops off the season Tuesday night at Orient-Macksburg.
