pleasantville-3

For the first time this season, Pleasantville’s basketball squads will have a home West Central Conference doubleheader tonight against Madrid.

The Trojans’ girls will look for their first conference win of the season after dropping a close 46-44 loss to Earlham Friday night. Pleasantville had numerous opportunities to win, but came up just short in the final minutes of the game. The Trojans will go into the game with a 3-2 overall record. Pleasantville has won the last three matchups against the Tigers, including beating them at Madrid 48-30 last year.

The Trojans’ boys will try to extend their winning streak to three after coming back to beat Earlham Friday night, 60-56. Pleasantville through the first two games have averaged 69 points per game, led by Mason Scheve’s 25 points per game. Pleasantville has lost the last three games against the Tigers, including losing to them 58-41 last year on the road. Coach Tom Wilkins tells KNIA Sports that despite the strong start, he will be focusing on cleaning up aspects of his team’s game on both sides of the ball.

“We need to clean up some things. It’s still early and we got some new parts in our offense. So if we can get things cleaned up a little bit, I like the direction we are going in.”

The doubleheader gets underway at Pleasantville High School with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
