The Indianola School Board reviewed facilities projects and future plans at their meeting Tuesday, including a look at the new Auxiliary Building that was previously approved by the board. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the new location of the building will be south of Indianola Middle School, and will require the district to get rid of the tennis courts behind the building, which were scheduled to be demolished in the future.

“Once we get those tennis courts out of there, we will have that become new green space. Then we are going to shift the youth soccer fields north, but have the same amount of space so as to not infringe on the possibility for our young ones playing soccer. Then the auxiliary building will be built towards the south end of that green space south of the middle school, which will also allow us to use existing concrete for bus parking.”

Sathoff also said the building is much needed for district staff, and will house the IT department, transportation, and food service.
