The Knoxville PTO is sponsoring its annual giving tree to help provide needed supplies to classrooms at Northstar and West Elementary. Those interested in contributing can find a list of needed items online, sign up to purchase an item, and deliver it to the elementary school of their choosing by December 21st. Knoxville PTO President Daphne Pearson says many of the items help enhance the classroom that the school normally wouldn’t provide.
“There’s a lot of items that the teachers would be buying to help fulfill needs in their classroom, and they range from everything like gumballs as rewards, colored pencils, cleaning supplies, crayons, paper, things to help with day-to-day activities. These would be things that the teacher would pay out of their own pocket. It’s a way we can eliminate that expense.”
Selected items will be bought, wrapped, labeled with the teacher’s name, and delivered to the appropriate school by participants to be placed under the school’s Christmas tree. Gifts will be delivered to classrooms and opened by students during their class party on Wednesday, December 22nd.
