At approximately 9:30 Sunday morning, the Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to the 600 blk of S. Roche for a reported structure fire. As crews were responding heavy smoke could be seen several blocks away.  A working fire assignment was requested, bringing in all available off duty firefighters, along with an engine company from Knoxville Township, Pella EMS, and an engine company from Indiana Township. When crews arrived, they found black smoke and fire coming from the front door of a shop.  Crews made entry to find heavy fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by fire crews performing a fast attack.  

The shop and its contents are considered a total loss, the fire is still under investigation by the Knoxville Fire Department, and Marion County Sheriff’s Office fire investigator.    

The Knoxville Fire Department was assisted on scene by Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Township Fire Department, Pella EMS, and Indiana Township Fire Department.
