The Norwalk boys and girls basketball teams will be back in action tonight as they host the Mustangs from Dallas Center-Grimes (DCG). In the girls contest, Norwalk will look to get back into the win column after they started 2022 with two straight wins before falling on the road Friday to Grinnell. Coach Jill Martin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, playing in the Little Hawkeye Conference you can expect a tough matchup night in and night out. Martin says her girls are glad to be at home and are excited to test themselves out against such great opponents.
In the boys game Norwalk will look to build some momentum and give DCG their second straight loss after Pella was able to upset the Mustangs on Friday. For Norwalk they’ll look to continue to play Norwalk basketball and slow the pace of play while getting timely shots at the offensive end. If the Warriors hope to pull the upset over DCG, sophomore Redek Born, the Warriors leading scorer on the year will look to rebound from an off night Friday that saw the sophomore spend much of the time on the bench dealing with injury and foul trouble.
The Warriors and Mustangs will tip things off tonight with the girls game first at 6:15 p.m. followed by the boys. Myself, Nathan Sage and Steve Wermerskirchen will have the call on kniakrls.com via the KNIA3 stream.
