Rebounding struggles remained an issue for the Central College men’s basketball team on Wednesday as the Dutch lost to Buena Vista University 86-70.

The Dutch were outrebounded in the contest 32-20 which led to Buena Vista outscoring Central 19-4 in second-chance points. In addition to having the advantage on the glass, the Beavers hit 13 of their 26 three-pointers. Junior forward Sam Beatty led the Dutch with 16 points while sophomore center Joshua Van Gorp added 15 points for Central.

Central’s record dropped to 3-11 overall and 0-6 American Rivers Conference play. The Dutch return to action this Saturday as they host 4-9 Luther College in a conference game. The start time has been moved to 3 p.m. with the postponement of the women’s game. The game between Central and Luther can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS with myself, Tyler Crabb on the call.
