The new Knoxville Schools construction project is continuing to progress without any delays. Knoxville Schools Business Manager Craig Mobley tells KNIA/KRLS News that they are thankful for how the project is coming along.

“The construction project is on schedule. We typically get out there every couple weeks for our OAC meeting, and it is amazing every two weeks to see the progress they’ve made. We’re not seeing any supply chain shortages or delays right now, so everything’s on schedule. Everything looks good as far as a budgeting standpoint. We’re still under budget on the project and hopefully that continues and hopefully we stay away from those supply chain issues and we can stay on schedule.”

Knoxville Schools Superintendent Cassi Pearson adds that the construction project will likely result in a temporary closure of the school’s gymnasium this summer.

“It does include air conditioning our current gymnasium, which I think everyone will be excited about. It does mean though that the gym will be closed down for a little while this summer as they switch over the old system to a new HVAC system that includes air conditioning and heating.”

The new building is scheduled to be completed in time for the beginning of next school year.
