A Pella family has been hard at work this winter creating and designing a unique structure made of snow.

The Wiersmas on the corner of University Street and East 14th created a snow tower with hours of preparation, design, and construction — a concept Nolan says has grown over the years.

This winter, before this week’s above-average warmth mostly wrecked their icy creation, the tower was 14 feet tall and had special design for use by kids. In addition to the fun, the family also decided to give back through the effort, raising awareness and collecting donations for Living Water Wells to help those overseas secure a clean, reliable drinking water supply.

Donations can be made through Faith Christian Reformed Church or the Living Water Wells website.
