The first half of Little Hawkeye Conference play is complete, minus one game delayed due to the weather Friday evening, with Indianola trailing conference leaders Pella and Dallas Center-Grimes by just one game with a 5-2 record, while Norwalk is at 3-4. The Indians have only fallen to the Dutch and Mustangs in conference play and played both teams close, and put up their best performance of the season on Friday against Norwalk. The Warriors on the other hand are the only team to hand Pella a conference loss this season, and took DCG to four overtimes.

Indianola head coach Jeff Ebling tells KNIA Sports the squad has bought in to the work on the defensive side of the ball, and that will be tested against some of the top teams in the state over the next several weeks.

Games to watch coming up:
Indianola @ Pella – Friday, January 21st
The Indians fell to the Dutch at home to begin conference play on a game that came down to the final shot 63-60. A win for Pella puts them in the driver’s seat for a matchup with DCG that can decide the conference title, while a win for Indianola sets up a matchup with DCG for a share of first place.

Norwalk at Pella Christian – Friday, January 21st
While a conference title seems like a longshot for the Warriors, a battle with Pella Christian will go a long way towards a top four finish for either team. The Eagles bested the Warriors 61-56 in their previous matchup, where the Warriors turned the ball over 16 times.

Indianola vs Dallas Center-Grimes – January 28th
No matter the outcome of Indianola vs Pella on the 21st, any hope for a conference title for Indianola comes from taking down DCG at home a week later. Indianola shot just 10 free throws in their first matchup and made just four in a 69-59 defeat.
