Pleasantville’s basketball squads were swept by Des Moines Christian, but the night was highlighted by Mason Scheve eclipsing 1,000 career points.

 

The Trojans’ girls were edged out by the Lions in the closest matchup between the two teams in the VarsityBound era by the final of 43-42. Pleasantville’s top scorer was Riley Thill, who scored a season-high ten points. Adi Adreon and Malorie McKinney each had nine points, while Joelle Johnson had eight coming off the bench. With the loss, Pleasantville drops to 9-7 on the season and 4-6 in West Central Conference play.

 

The Trojans’ boys came out on the wrong side of their matchup, losing to Des Moines Christian 74-39. Pleasantville went nip-and-tuck with Des Moines Christian for the first three quarters, but were outscored in the fourth, 29-6. Mason Scheve scored 16 points and became the ninth Trojan boys’ player with 1,000 career points. He joins Verle McGraw, Lloyd Thurnburg, Bob Marsh, Mike Brown, Mike Collins, Scott Koerselman, Trever Zoss, and Brady Elder. With the loss Pleasantville drops to 7-6 on the season and 5-5 in West Central Conference play.

 

Pleasantville’s boys will be back in action Monday night for a non-conference showdown at home against Clarke. The Trojans’ girls will be back on the floor Tuesday in the first half of a non-conference road doubleheader at Chariton.
