Pella 152-pound wrestler Jackson Van Kley had to battle back after a semifinals loss to earn a state tournament bid Saturday at Carlisle.
Van Kley placed 2nd in his weight class on a day where the Dutch had seven wrestlers win their first match, but all of them ended up losing in the follow-up round. Jackson defeated Dominic Tigner of Norwalk by a 7-3 decision, who he fell to twice this season.
T.R. Putz (145) fell in a close 2nd place match in a wrestle back, while Damion Clark (120), Peyton Ritzert (138), and Logan Bruxvoort (160) all won their 3rd place matches but did not earn a second chance match after the wrestlers that defeated them fell in the finals and earned an automatic 2nd place finish. Noah Parsons (195) and Daniel Loftis (285) of Pella both placed 4th after falling in their final matches of the day.
