The three Knoxville Wrestlers that are going to the state meet will wrestle their first round matches on Thursday starting at 9:00am. Marco Alejo, Luke Spaur, and Wayne Johnston are all going for the first time in their careers. They all tell KNIA/KRLS Sports they want to leave it all on the mats in Wells Fargo Arena.

Spaur: “Place, that’s the goal and take it one match at a time, that’s the goal.”
Alejo: “My goal right now is to place and beat Anderson at State if I have to wrestle him and just leave it all out there.”
Johnston: “I just want to put it all on the mat and wrestle how I’m capable of.”

Alejo will take on Gavin Jensen of Williamsburg in a first round match at 113 pounds, Spaur will wrestle Tyce Rufferidge of Pocahontas Area at 132 pounds, and Johnston will take on C.J. Walrath of Burlington Notre Dame at 182 pounds. The class 2A meet will begin at 9:00am Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena.
