A young Knoxville Wrestling Squad finished the season last week with three Panthers at the State Meet. While the Panthers were improved overall in duals and in traditional meet finishes, Coach Skyler Spaur tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they still had a few goals that they wanted to accomplish that did not get fulfilled. He adds injury and other issues made his team to wrestle shorthanded many times in the second half of the season.

Spaur: “Not quite to what we expected, but that’s what you get when you don’t have your full line up in the second half of the season. We were on the cusp of being ranked and those close losses to Ballard and Iowa Valley and North Polk set us back on the eight ball.”

If everyone comes back out next year, Spaur will be a 100% return for his team as he had no seniors this year. Spaur says winning the conference and qualifying for state duals are high on the list of goals to accomplish next year.
