indianola-8

The Indianola girls basketball team’s season came to an end last night in the regional final against Bondurant-Farrar, and will graduate five seniors, Lauren Blake, Mara Bishop. Kinzey Johnston, Trysta Hawkins, and Taylor Powers. Indians head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports this class was special as they joined the program as freshman when he took over the program, and has been his first senior class that he has coached for four years.

“We have so many successful girls outside of basketball on our team, and that is no more epitomized by our five seniors. They are not only great basketball players, great leaders, great teammates, but they are going to be successful in whatever they do. I feel so lucky to be able to coach them over the past four years, and I’m so excited about what lies ahead for them because they are bound to be successful based just on their personality, based on how they work and how much they care about doing things the right way. Saying goodbye to those girls is going to hurt a lot.”

The Indians ended the season with a 17-5 record.
