Don’t tell the Pella girls track and field team spring hasn’t officially arrived.

The Dutch 4×100 relay featuring four returning state qualifiers (Delanie Reynolds, Calla Kerndt, Marissa Hackman, and Emily McMartin) smashed the Drake Relays Blue Standard mark at the Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association Indoor State Meet in Ames Thursday, earning the four a trip to the famous Blue Oval and the state’s top track and field showcase in April.

Head Coach Dak Rasmussen told KNIA/KRLS Sports this is the earliest the Dutch girls have ever qualified for the Drake Relays. Stay tuned to 92.1 KRLS next week to hear from the four girls who will make a trip to the famous Blue Oval.

Several other Pella athletes were competing among Class 3A and 4A teams Thursday at Iowa State University. The Dutch placed 6th among some of the best 3A teams from around the state, albeit without the full compliment of athletes and events typically afforded in the outdoor season.
