The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday evening., approving the FY2023 budget. The council is lowering the property tax levy by 8 cents, $200,000 more from LOST funds, and $100,000 from Road Use Tax Funds in addition to more Community Development Staff, 24-hour police dispatch, two new street employees, finishing the WRRF, and improving the city Industrial Park area. The council approved an ordinance amending the city code creating an exception to nonconforming structures, an agreement to transport properties to the Indianola Fire District, an agreement with Iowa Homeland Security to replace the Outdoor Warning Siren System, and the purchase of new A/V equipment. The council also discussed selection criteria for the Downtown Square Commission before going into closed session to discuss real estate and personnel.
