indianola-3

The Indianola boys tennis team fell to a strong Boone program to start their season Friday afternoon 8-3, while the girls soccer team dropped their contest to Nevada 2-1.

The boys tennis squad hosted the Toreadors at the Indianola tennis complex, getting wins from #1 and #2 singles Jackson Becker and Lane McGraw respectively, while the duo of Becker and McGraw earned the lone doubles win. The Indians next compete in a triangular on the road at Urbandale against the host J-Hawks and Des Moines Lincoln.

The Indians girls soccer team battled with the Cubs for a scoreless first half, then briefly taking a 1-0 lead when Lake Martin scored in the 50th minute. Nevada came back however and scored goals in the 70th and 77th minutes to hand the Indians their first defeat of the season to end the cold evening. Head coach Erin Ebling said the team will continue to work on getting better at their style of play, which is still being defined early on this season.

Indianola is now 1-1 on the season, and won’t have long to reflect on the loss, as they head to a tournament at Urbandale today beginning at 10:30am.
