A former Pella All-State football player and State Shot Put Champion is hosting a camp to bring the basics of football to youth in the community. Current Iowa Hawkeye football starter Nick DeJong is hosting a camp on Saturday, May 28th for 1st through 5th grade students. DeJong says his goal was to take what he’s learned in his years of football and give kids a spark and interest in the sport that has meant so much to him, and do so in the community he calls home.

The cost is $30 for students, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Pella Athletic Booster Club. Find registration details here; those wanting a t-shirt will need to sign up by Monday, April 25th. Hear more from DeJong on this week’s KNIA/KRLS Radio Sports Page, which airs every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
