indianola-8

The Indianola girls golf team placed 6th at the Regional Qualifying meet at Willow Creek Golf Course in West Des Moines Wednesday, seeing their season come to an end with a team score of 396. The Indians graduate four seniors from the roster.

The Indianola baseball team swept Des Moines Lincoln in a home doubleheader Wednesday evening, winning game one 12-0, and game two 14-1 with both games being shortened contests. The Indians jumped all over the Railsplitters in game one, scoring eight runs in the first inning, then adding two in the second, and one each in the third and fourth to get to the final tally and end the game early. Luke Rockhold got the win on the mound, while Brady Blake went 2-3 at the plate, and Casey Stecker hit his first home run of the season.

Game two was much of the same, as they scored two in the first, three in the second and third innings, then after Lincoln pushed across a run in the fourth, the Indians answered with six in the bottom of the inning to end the second contest early as well. Hayden Hoffman allowed no hits in five innings pitched to pick up the win while striking out nine in a stellar performance on the mound, while Brady Blake hit his second three-run bomb of the season going 3-3 and driving in six total runs.

Head coach Jon Fitzpatrick tells KNIA Sports the Indians will look to excel at pitching and defense this season, especially early on, and score runs as they are able and put pressure on other teams.

The Indians are 3-0 on the season, and play state power Johnston tonight at home at 7pm.
