Indianola Girls Soccer Falls to SE Polk

The Indianola girls soccer team’s season came to a close Friday night in the first round of regional play, falling to the Rams of Southeast Polk 2-1. The Indians and Rams were tied in the first half, with Indianola getting a goal from Abby Jensen off of a corner kick. Both teams battled in the second half, with the Rams able to find the back of the net once to take the lead and would hold on defensively. The Indians season comes to a close with a 5-13 record, and they graduate a senior class of five.

Indianola Baseball Sweeps Ottumwa

The Indianola baseball team won game one 5-2 and game two 7-4 to sweep the Bulldogs of Ottumwa Friday night on their home field.

Ottumwa got ahead right away in game one scoring a run in the top of the first inning, however that lead was short lived as the Indians scored two more in the bottom half of the inning to take a lead they would not relinquish. The Indians scored a run in each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings despite the Bulldogs getting one more run across themselves in the sixth.

Game two followed nearly the same formula, as the Bulldogs scored a pair of runs to start the contest, only to see Indianola score three in the bottom of the first to take the lead. Ottumwa tied the score at three in the top of the second, but the Indians then took control with another two runs in the bottom of the second then another in the third to lead 6-3. Ottumwa attempted a comeback with a run in the fifth, but the Indians got it right back with a run in the sixth and ended the game with a scoreless top of the seventh.
Indianola improves to 5-1 and completes their busy first week of the season, and will next play on the road at Creston on Monday.
