The unemployment rate dropped significantly locally, according to the latest data from Iowa Workforce Development.

In Marion County, the percentage is down to 1.6. That’s a drop from 2.5% in March and 3.1% from April 2021. There are 18,660 employed residents and 300 individuals seeking work and receiving benefits.

In Warren County, the percentage has dropped to 1.9. That unemployment rate is down from 3% in March and 3.9% in April 2021. There are 28,300 employed residents and 500 individuals seeking work and receiving benefits.

Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.0 percent in April – down from 3.3 percent in March and from 4.5 percent one year ago. The U.S. April unemployment rate remained at 3.6 percent.
