indianola-8

The Indianola softball team fell to Ballard Wednesday evening on the road in a non-conference contest 3-1. The Indians got off to a quick start picking up a run in the first inning off of a Kiley Kindelspire hit, but the Bombers got a pair of runs back in the second to take the lead, and added an insurance run in the third to get to the final tally. Brynn Ortlund had two hits for the Indians, while Izzie Benge struck out four in the circle.
Head coach Stacy Evans tells KNIA Sports her team is full of smart softball athletes, and they will continue to get an opportunity to show it as the season goes on.
The Indians are now 0-3 to start the season, and will play Pella Christian to open up Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight along with the baseball squad. Both the second of the doubleheader baseball and softball games will be broadcast live, with softball on the KRLS3 stream on KNIAKRLS.com and the free mobile app, and baseball on 94.3 KNIA. Pregame coverage begins at approximately 7pm.
