indianola-8

The Indianola softball team went 2-1 Saturday in a tournament at Davenport, taking down Davenport North 11-3 and Fort Madison 5-3, before falling to Davenport West 4-3.
Against North, the Wildcats struck first in the bottom of the first, and the Indians scored three runs in the top of the second, only to see the Wildcats again score two more runs to tie the score at three going into the third. A six-run for the Indians ran up the score as they took a lead they would not look back on, and scored two more runs in the fifth as insurance and earn the win.

The contest against Fort Madison was also back and forth, and required late game heroics to get the win. The Bloodhounds scored first, then the Indians answered for two more in the third to take a brief lead, only to see the score tied again in the fourth. That score would hold until the sixth when Fort Madison took a one-run lead, but that was broken again as Mara Bishop hit a three-run bomb to win the contest.

The Falcons of Davenport West took down the Indians in much of the same fashion, as the Indians scored two runs in the first inning, building a 3-2 lead going into the seventh inning. However the Falcons plated two runs in the seventh to win the game.

The Indians are now 12-6 on the season, and will match up with Norwalk Monday. The game will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 7pm, with first pitch at 7:15.
