The Norwalk baseball team traveled to Eagle Lane Wednesday night and swept Pella Christian in a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader, as the Warriors won game one 10-0 in six innings and game two 4-2 as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Norwalk dominated all facets of the game in the doubleheader opener, scoring their 10 runs on 13 hits and three walks. D.J. Harris led the offensive attack that saw eight Warriors record hits with two singles, a double and three RBIs. Pitcher Vinnie Mauro got the win on the mound, throwing all six innings and striking out ten batters while allowing just three hits and no walks.

The Warriors again got the scoring started in the nightcap with a two-run second inning. An Eagles fielding error followed by a wild pitch brought Dylan Christensen in to score the first Norwalk run. A few batters later another Pella Christian error scored Aiden Kane and gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Norwalk would push the advantage to three runs in the top of the third inning, when Christensen scored on the third Eagles error of the night. Pella Christian cut into the deficit in the bottom of the fourth as a Ty Vander Molen double scored Micah DeHaan. Vander Molen would then score on the next at-bat on Norwalk’s lone error of the night. D.J. Harris gave the Warriors an insurance run in the top of the seventh when he scored on a bases loaded single by Jackson Campbell. The insurance run wasn’t needed however, as pitcher Ian Fisher proceeded to strike out the side to end the game.

Fisher dominated on the mound in the win, throwing all seven innings while giving up just 4 hits and one earned run. He also struck out 13 Eagles batters including eight of the final nine hitters in the game. Norwalk head coach Chad Wiedmann said Fisher’s hard work has lead to his successful season.

“He’s just come along tremendously over the last year and he’s dedicated and committed and works his tail off at it. We know what we’re going to get it out of him every night that he goes out there and the defense has make plays behind him and he does a great job.”

Norwalk’s record improved to 14-9 overall and 6-6 in Little Hawkeye Conference play, while Pella Christian’s record fell to 4-11 overall and 1-9 in league action. The Eagles return to the diamond tonight to host Knoxville in a game that can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS with Trevor Castle on the call beginning with pregame coverage at 7:15 p.m. The Warriors are off tonight ahead of hosting Pella in a single Little Hawkeye Conference game on Friday.
