A no hitter by Beau Leisure propelled the Knoxville Baseball Squad to a 5-0 win over Centerville on Thursday. Leisure faced the minimum in five of the seven innings helped by his defense and nine strikeouts on his own. Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the first three innings, but the Panthers scratched out three runs in the 3rd as Leisure helped his own cause by singling in a run. Two more insurance runs came across in the 6th inning. Coach Turner Devore told KNIA/KRLS Sports, Leisure did not have his best stuff but he gutted out the distance with help from his defense.

Devore: “He didn’t have his best stuff and he wasn’t felling great tonight. Defense has not played well when Beau has been on the mound but we got it tonight, Evan Prevo had a great hanger there in the sixth to get us out of the inning.”

Leisure walked three and allowed just four baserunners the entire game. Knoxville is now 14-10 on the season and 8-3 in the South Central Conference. The Panthers take a break from conference play tonight as they travel to Winterset.

The class 4A #12 Knoxville Softball Squad got a measure of revenge against Centerville on Thursday notching a win over the Reddetts 3-2. Brittany Bacorn got the scoring started in the 4th by hitting a two run homer. Knoxville added another run in the 6th and had to hold on for the win. Ashlyn Finarty got the win scattering six hits and striking out four. Jadyn Streigle was the other Panther to get multiple hits. Tonight, the Panthers will face quite possibly their toughest challenge of the season as they travel to class 4A #1 ranked ADM. You can hear that game live on 95.3 KNIA starting at 7:15.
