The Pella Christian baseball team rolled 15-4 and 8-1 to earn a conference doubleheader sweep over Oskaloosa Monday night, while the Eagles softball team fell to the Indians 11-4.

In the opening game of the baseball doubleheader on Eagle Lane, Pella Christian overcame a first inning run by Oskaloosa to score the next 12 runs of the ball game en route to the six-inning victory. Bennett Spronk earned the win on the bump, giving up two earned runs in 3 ⅓ innings with five strikeouts. Five Eagles recorded three hits, and Caleb Belzer batted in four runs in game one. The Indians struck first in the nightcap with a run in the top of the first inning, but Pella Christian responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame and never looked back. The Eagles added a pair of runs in the fifth inning, and four runs in the sixth to complete the sweep. Micah DeHaan dominated Oskaloosa in all facets of game two. The senior earned his third win of the season on the mound, giving up just one earned run with eight strikeouts and recorded three hits in four at-bats with a double and two RBI’s. Pella Christian baseball improved to 8-16 overall and 4-14 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

In softball, Pella Christian fell behind 3-0 after the top of the first inning, before Emri Agre responded with a lead-off solo home run to get the Eagles on the scoreboard. P.C pulled within one after Emma Eekhoff added a solo homer in the third, but that was as close as Pella Christian got in the game. Oskaloosa scored the next eight runs to pull away for the 11-4 victory. Agre recorded a home run and a triple in the loss to add to her impressive junior season. The Eagles’ softball team’s record dropped to 8-19 overall and 3-14 in conference play.
