The Indianola softball team defeated the Scarlets of Des Moines East Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup 13-4. Indianola struck early and often, scoring two runs in the first on an error and a Kiley Kindelspire RBI hit, then Kindelspire hit a three-run home run in the second to blow the game open 5-0.

The Indians added another four in the fourth that included a bases-clearing double by Izzie Benge, Indianola added insurance in the fifth with a Mara Bishop RBI double, and Bishop hit another home run in the seventh, a sacrifice fly from Selia Becker, and an RBI hit from Jordyn Gripp.

Indianola softball and baseball travel to Warren County rival Norwalk tonight for a pair of doubleheaders, with all four games heard live on KNIA and KNIAKRLS.com.
