An Altoona man arrested in Melcher-Dallas on June 20 has had his charges modified.  . Fifty-three-year-old Gary Oneal Elmore of Altoona, was initially charged with Burglary First Degree, a Class B Felony, Kidnapping Third Degree, a Class C Felony, Going Armed with Intent, a Class D Felony, Dominion/Control of a Firearm or Weapon by a Domestic Abuse Offender, a Class D Felony, Harassment First Degree and Aggravated Misdemeanor, and two counts of Child Endangerment and Aggravated Misdemeanor. 

According to court documents recently filed, Elmore now is charged with Kidnapping First Degree, a Class A Felony, Attempted Murder, a Class B Felony, Burglary First Degree, a Class C Felony, two counts of Neglect of a dependent Person, both Class C Felonies and possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, a Class D Felony. 

Elmore’s bond was initially set for $100,000 and was modified to $750,000. The charges stem from an incident on June 20 when Elmore broke into a home of a female that had a no-contact order against him and held her against her will with a .22 caliber rifle.

As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.1
