indianola-8

The Indianola baseball team took down North Polk in their regular season finale Wednesday evening 6-4, while softball fell to powerhouse Fort Dodge 10-0 in their final game before postseason play.

The #6 in class 4A Indianola softball fell behind early to the #1 in class 5A Dodgers 6-0, then couldn’t muster any offense as the Dodgers scored another two runs in each of the second and third innings as the game ended after the fifth.

The Indianola baseball team gave several pitchers their last warmup before their postseason contest Friday, with Casey Stecker going two innings and picking up the win, while Kaden Ritchie came on in relief to get the save. Brady Blake went 3-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles, Bennett Brueck went 2-4 with a double, and Gavin Legg went 2-4 with a triple. Head coach Jon Fitzpatrick tells KNIA Sports it is consistency in gameplay that will allow Indianola to play at their best, and they will have to try and be as steady as possible to achieve postseason success.

Softball ends the regular season at 25-12, and they will host the winner of North Polk and Des Moines Hoover on Saturday, while baseball ends the season at 23-12 and will host Ottumwa tomorrow evening.
