A former Indianola standout was selected in the MLB Draft. Duncan Davitt was chosen by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 18th round of the 2022 MLB Draft earlier today. Davitt was a four-year pitcher with the Iowa Hawkeyes, finishing his collegiate career this past spring. With Iowa, he struck out 171 batters in 144 1/3 innings.

Prior to coming to the Hawkeyes, Davitt was ranked as a top-500 prospect nationally by Perfect Game and as the No. 11 player in Iowa by Prep Baseball Report. He was a All-State Super Team by Iowa High School Coaches Baseball Association as a senior with Indianola, and an Iowa All-Star and MVP for Large School West Team in 2018. Davitt was a second-team all-state by the coaches as a junior and third-team by the Iowa Newspaper Association.

In his senior season with the Indians, he went 11-1 with 0.37 ERA, allowing 26 hits over 75 innings as a senior with a school record 133 strikeouts, including a school-record 17 strikeout game against Grinnell. He also went 7-1 with a 0.47 ERA over 60 innings as a junior and 4-3 with a 1.45 ERA, fanning 49 over 53 innings as a sophomore. Davitt was part of Little Hawkeye Conference titles as a junior and senior.
