Today brings us to #8 on the top ten countdown of memorable moments during the 2021/2022 sports year for Knoxville. On Panthers vs. Cancer night, Knoxville played its annual opponent Chariton and the girls basketball game was being controlled by the Chargers. With 7:00 remaining in the game, Knoxville trailed by 12 points and things looked bleak for the Panthers. However, the Panthers led by senior Charlee Heffron started chipping away at the Chargers’ lead.

Heffron would score six points, grab four rebounds, and came up with six steals. Coach Matt Ritchhart said she played like it was her final Panthers vs. Cancer game.

Ritchhart: “She played like a senior in that 4th quarter. We didn’t really get anything out of our offense, we were getting a lot from offensive and defensive transition, and Charlee stepped up big.”

Knoxville would go on to finish the season 10-12 and raise a total of $48,589.04 during the Panthers vs. Cancer day.
