The boys 4×100 meter relay team of Trevor Daggett, Blayton Nilles, Ben Wicks, and Mason Scheve claims the top spot on our countdown of the top sports moments of the 2021-2022 Pleasantville school year, as they made the most of an unlikely opportunity at the State Track and Field meet May 19th-21st.

Coming in fourth at the State Qualifying Meet at PCM on May 12th, the Trojans boys 4×100 meter relay squad had to rely on the time from the meet to be one of the top 24 times in all of Class 2A. Thankfully for the Pleasantville boys, their finishing time of :44.30 was enough to clinch an at-large spot at the State Meet. With their opportunity in hand, the Trojans’ 4×100 team came in third place in the first heat of the event with a time of :43.64 which qualified them for the Finals. Daggett and Nilles both attributed their success to the hard-work the guys had put into the event.

Daggett: “We’ve just been working on our handoffs pretty consistently, and they’ve gotten a lot better over time, and that was good.”

Nilles: “We’ve been going out and working on our handoffs every week and each week they just been getting better and finally it pays off. ”

After coming in fourth among just the 11 teams at their qualifying meet, the Pleasantville boys 4×100 meter relay team put together an impressive fifth place run with a time of :43.87 to give the Trojans their top finish at State this year.
