The Pella School Board approved several bids for construction of the Early Childhood Center at their meeting Monday. A recommendation from DCI Group included eight total contractors to build a facility that would cost a total of $16.5 million and provide several classrooms and other features to expand preschool options in the district.
The board also gave final approval to a coaching structure for the new Pella Girls Wrestling team, and officially hired Adam Hale and David Bouska as the new head coach and assistant respectively.
An agreement with The Queue ESports arena was tabled until further details about supervision of the program was put into the contract.
An update about first day student enrollment was also on the agenda. Initial estimates indicate 53 more students are in the Pella School District this fall — however, the final certified count will be finalized on October 1st, which will indicate how much per pupil funding the Pella schools will receive for the general fund in the upcoming fiscal year.
