heatsept20

After rounds of summer-like thunderstorms this past weekend, perhaps the last gasp of dangerous heat of the season is impacting the region today.

According to the National Weather Service, record warmth is possible today as afternoon highs climb into the 90s. The previous record of 93 set in 1940 is in jeopardy, as are many other high marks around the state.

Much more fall-like conditions will settle in as the season officially changes from summer to autumn later this week as a cold front is expected to pass through early Wednesday morning — and daytime highs in the 60s and 70s will be more common through the end of the month.
