indianola-8

The #4 Indianola volleyball team qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 2014 Tuesday evening after sweeping ADM, and will have a match against #5 Western Dubuque in the first round on Monday.

The Indians went 37-6 in the regular season, with four of the losses coming from class 5A state qualifying teams, and was tested regularly against top competition throughout the season. Western Dubuque was similarly tested all season long, matching up with powerhouses Davenport Assumption, Iowa City Liberty, and class 4A #1 Cedar Rapids Xavier.

Indianola head coach Kent Halstead no matter the opponent, Indianola has to think about themselves.

“It’s about us. I talked at practice and I asked them who we play, is it this team or this team or this team, because sometimes it doesn’t matter. It’s about the six you have on this side that matters.”

The quarterfinal matchup will be at Xtream Arena in Coralville, and will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45pm, with first serve scheduled for 6.
