indianola-8

The Indianola football team had a stellar season in 2022, making the class 4A quarterfinal round for the second straight year, but will need to replace a lot of leaders going into next year. The Indians will lose much of their offensive production, including top passer in Bennett Brueck, top running back Matt Edgington, and top receivers in Drew Kingery and Will Shivers, while also losing four of their top five tacklers on the defensive side of the ball in Johnny Menke, Kye Hartung, Charlie Wilmott, and Josh Eilers among many other contributors.

Head coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA Sports the senior class bought into the program and many bided their time for an opportunity to play at the varsity level, and it showed.

“I could go up and down the list of guys who were important. This group has once again taken this program to the next level, and set a standard that we are really, really proud of.”

The Indians went 7-4 on the season, falling to Cedar Rapids Xavier to end their season for the second straight year one game away from the UNI Dome.
