
The Pella Christian bowling teams opened their season at Sigourney Monday, while the Eagles girls basketball team begins their season tonight at Montezuma.
The P.C. girls bowling team opened their season with a 1764-1480 win over Sigourney, while the boys bowling team fell to Sigourney-Keota 2447-1854. Alexa Klaasen led the way for the Eagles girls, posting a two-game score of 308, followed by Cathy Tang at 241 and Caitlin Veenstra at 231. A shorthanded Pella Christian boys bowling squad was led by Evan DeJong with a score of 316. Freshman Andrew VanKooten posted a score of 282 and Andrew DeVries came in with a 250.
The Eagles girls basketball team opens the 2022-2023 season tonight against a familiar face in Montezuma. Tonight marks the third consecutive year that Pella Christian and the Bravettes have begun the season against each another. Overall in the Varsity Bound era, the two teams have met seven times and Montezuma holds a 5-2 advantage. The Bravettes won last season’s meeting 60-50. The Eagles won the meeting two years ago 63-53 and snapped a four-game losing streak in the series.
The Pella Christian bowling teams next compete at home on December 3rd, hosting Bondurant-Farrar at Dutch 200 Bowl and Grill at 1:00 PM. The Eagles girls basketball game tonight at Montezuma High School begins at 7:30 p.m.
