An all Marion County battle in Warren County is tonight as Melcher-Dallas, still without a gym to play in, will take on Pleasantville. For the girls game it will be a contrast in experience. Pleasantville, while small in numbers, does have two players averaging in double figures. Joelle Johnson and Hope DeMan both average 11.5 points per game, but Head Coach Jeff Cook tells KNIA Sports it is a matter of managing the health of the team and hoping foul trouble does not become a factor tonight.

Cook: “We’re going to have to be care because we’re not very deep. We’re also crossing our fingred that we don’t have the injury bug also.”

Melcher-Dallas got off to an 0-1 start to the season last week losing to Wayne 59-38. The Saints have experience at guard with Addi Wadle and inside with Grace Overgaard, Kamryn Hendrickson, plus senior leader Kasyn Reed. For the boys game it is the season opener for both Pleasantville and Melcher-Dallas. Pleasantville will debut new coach Taylor Phipps while veteran Coach John Suntken says their pace will be key to their success.

Suntken: “Getting up and down the court, that has to get better. Transition to defense and offense to defense, the speed of the game must increase for us.”

Tip-off of the girls game from Southeast Warren is at 6:00.
