The Highway 163 rivalry will be renewed on Eagle Lane Monday night, as the Pella Christian basketball teams host PCM in non-conference doubleheader.

Kicking off the night, both the Eagles and Mustangs girls’ squads are looking to get their seasons back on the right track. Pella Christian is 0-3 so far this season after falling to a pair of ranked teams and then to Oskaloosa Friday night. Meanwhile, PCM’s record is 1-2 after a season opening win at Chariton, followed by losses to Knoxville and Nevada. PCM girls head coach Sami-Allison Rodriguez believes the two squads matchup really well and expects a hard-fought game.

“I think defensively we can match up really well with them. I think offensively, if we can just take care of the ball and get some good looks, get some second chance points, we’ll be in good shape. I mean, they played some really tough teams early, so I’m sure they’ll be ready to battle on Monday.”

The Eagles and Mustangs boys squads both come into the contest with 1-1 records. Pella Christian bounced back from a season opening loss to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont with a 16-point win over Oskaloosa Friday, while PCM opened the year with an 18-point win against Knoxville before dropping a 10-point decision to Nevada Friday.

Coverage of Monday’s basketball doubleheader at Pella Christian High School begins at 6:00 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS and on the Pella Christian High School YouTube channel.
