Indianola Basketball Teams Looking to Continue Streak Hosting Oskaloosa

The Indianola boys and girls basketball teams both started 1-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference play after sweeping Newton last Friday, and both teams will attempt to stay unblemished on the season as they host Oskaloosa tonight.

The Indians girls played a strong defensive game against the Cardinals last week, holding Newton to just 10 second half points as they won 55-26, their second time this season holding an opponent to under 30 points, and face an Osky team that is similarly 1-0 in the conference standings after taking down Pella Christian. Head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports he was proud of the way other players stepped up in their game against Newton, and it shows that on any given night any of the players in the rotation are capable of leading the team.

The Indianola boys haven’t dropped a contest this season and are 2-0, and have done so by playing efficient basketball, assisting on 32 of their 50 made shots in the two games and making over 50% of their shots both inside and beyond the arc.

The games will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA and the Indianola Activities YouTube channel, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off at 6:15.
