The Indianola boys swimming team placed 2nd in a crowded meet at Grinnell Saturday, while the girls wrestling team placed 4th at Ankeny Centennial and the boys wrestling team 7th at the Baltzey Invitational at Johnston.

The Indians boys swimmers won the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle Relay, Nathan Pollard earned a first place finish in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke, and Billy Shepherd placed 3rd in the 100 Freestyle and 4th in the 50 Freestyle. The Indians will next swim Tuesday at Southeast Polk.

The Indians girls wrestlers placed 4th at Ankeny Centennial. The Indians fell to Ankeny Centennial in the first round 51-24 getting wins from Summer Wolff at 135lbs, Sophia Juhasz-Boess at 140lbs, Lanie Frericks at 235lbs, and Callie Chapman at 125lbs. The Indians then defeated Pella in the 2nd round 42-27 powered by wins from Wolff, Juhasz-Boess, Andrea Taylor at 145lbs, and Frericks.

Advancing to the third round, the Indians dropped a contest to West Marshall 48-24, seeing victories from Frericks, Nina Alexander at 120lbs, and Wolff, before the fourth round where the Indians defeated Norwalk 48-12. Earning victories in the round for Indianola included Jazelle Smith at 190lbs, Frericks, Alexander, Chapman, Elaina Merfield at 130lbs, Wolff, and Juhasz-Boess. The final round saw the Indians drop a close contest with Mason City 42-36. Indianola picked up points from Smith, Alexander, Chapman, and Wolff. Indianola will next wrestle on Friday at Chariton.

The Indianola boys faced some of the state’s best at Johnston as they scored 107 team points. Top finishers included a first place finish from Bowen Downey at 120lbs, Ryan Young was fifth at 126lbs, Jake Pontier earned a fifth place finish at 145lbs, AJ Pontier placed third at 160lbs, and Isaiah Kellow finished in fifth at 182lbs. Indianola will next wrestle in Waterloo on Friday.
