With competition resuming tomorrow night for the Pella Christian girls basketball team, the Eagles are hoping that shots will begin to fall in the back half of the season.
Pella Christian struggled with shooting the ball through the first eight games of the season, connecting on just 28.7% of their shots from the field, 24.7% of their three-point attempts, and 53.1% of their free throws. While the team’s confidence has grown in shot selection, Eagles head coach Jordan Dyk says that the next step is working on making the necessary adjustments to get shots to fall
“We haven’t put it in the hole that well as group not just one person, not just two people, as a group as a whole. So, I think the biggest thing we talked about is continue that confidence, but now you got to take it upon yourself a little bit, say hey I got to work on knocking this down like I can’t just say I’m throwing it at the basket. Work on I’m going to fix this, I’m going to fix some things.”
Pella Christian hopes that their extra shooting work during the holiday break will pay off when they return to the court tomorrow in a girls-boys Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader at Newton. The doubleheader can be heard live on the KRLS2 stream at KNIAKRLS.com, beginning with pregame coverage at 6 p.m.
